Well, hi! It's been a while but we thought with it being SO close to Christmas now, we should do a lat minute Christmas wish list! It might give you some ideas for last minute gifts as well so we figure it's mutually beneficial!

Benefit High Flyin' Glosses Gift Set US$26 – I don't really think this needs any explanation! Who wouldn't want a little taste of all the Benefit lip glosses in a cute little box set?!

Hello Darling Nail Polish in Mrs Reynolds $20.95 – I went to the Hello Darling site because I was going to include the Glitter Bug in this list, but I couldn't go past this gorgeous rose gold polish, named for the new Mrs Reynolds (Blake Lively) but making me think of the Firefly episode called 'Our Mrs Reynolds' where Christina Hendricks marries Nathan Fillion's character, Mal Reynolds (long story but it makes me happy…)

Tigi Catwalk Limited Edition Fabulous Curls Set AU$24.65 – Anything to help my curls over Christmas while I'm in humid Brisbane. AND it's a gift set.

Dot EDP by Marc Jacobs AU$120 – I'm still loving this and Christmas to me equals new perfume!

Essence 2-in-1 Mascara AU$6.50 – Essence I Love Extreme Volume is easily one of my favourite mascaras ever and I'm a bit of a mascara junkie (I usually apply two different mascaras at a time). This 2-in-1 is an interesting idea and great for my travelling time of year where I either want something quick and easy or something done up and glam for party season!

Have the most relaxing, wonderful festive season! We are excited because we'll be together enjoying all our beauty purchases and the joys of the holidays.

Lots of love

NOTD: Matte Black Nails

So I happened to be in Brisbane last week (that would mostly explain the lack of posts around here lately) and, during a speed shopping trip with my bestie, I stumbled upon a matte black nail polish.

We were running around the shops looking for Saturday night outfits and on the register of Bardot, at arms length, was a selection of cute nail polishes.  Among them, a bright pink and a matte black.

I have been looking for matte black nail polish since I came across some of these on Pinterest – can you blame me!?

One thing that I have noticed since my purchase is that the matte nail is a controversial one – there are a lot of haters out there, but I really like the different texture just to change things up a bit.

OPI did a limited edition matte range that I'm pretty sure you can only get on eBay every now and again, but I picked up this BYS brand from Bardot for $7.95. A bargain! And a great way to try out the trend without having to search high and low on the Internet for it!

What do you think? Are you a fan of the matte nail? Would you try it out just as a one off? What do you think?

Priceline splurge + Essence Cosmetics

I went into Priceline the other day because I was about 10 minutes early for work and in desperate need of some hand cream. I've decided that Priceline is a little bit like Ikea.

You can go in there with the best of intentions, to purchase one necessary or predetermined item, and walk into a haze, coming to only as you pay for a multitude of items you somehow picked up on the way to the check outs. Then you walk out of the store and the fog lifts and you can't quite work  out what happened.

So, along with my Cetaphil Intense Moisturiser for hands, I also walked out with a bunch of Essence products. Partly because they are cute and have some great colours going on, but mostly because they are SO CHEAP!

I don't know this brand AT ALL except that I got the Essence mascara from Lauren in our Christmas in July beauty swap and I love it.

Here's what I picked up:

I got three nail polishes. Nude Glam in Toffee To Go and Colour & Go in Let's Get Lost for $2.55. Then I picked up Rebels Rock Coat for $3.50 – I didn't even know what it was but it looked fun (more on that later).

I've been wanting a gel eyeliner for ages but wasn't sure if I'd use it. At $5.95 for the eye liner and $2.95 for the brush, it was a no-brainer.

I've been thinking I need some more bright eye colours for summer and this Sun Club palette just screamed out to be bought – $5.95, it's a joke!

Here' s a little swatch of the palette. I love the range of colours!

I'll report back when I've tried these beauties out, but so far I'm pretty happy with my purchases! It gives me a chance to try some new things before I buy a more expensive version!

Weekly Wishlists

1 - Kiehls Rare Earth Deep Pore Every Day Cleanser - AU$30 – I hear (from Wendy and Co) that this is a good exfoliating product for dry skin so I'm pretty keen to try it out.

2 – Australis Limited Edition Nails in Flip Flops – AU$7.95 – Just love this colour in the limited edition range!

3 – L'Oreal Paris Super Liner Gel Eyeliner - AU$19.96 (on sale at Priceline) – I haven't tried a gel eyeliner and I just feel like I really want to. Seems like as good a reason as any…

4 – Revitanail Nail Strengthener – AU$29.99 – So sick of peeling nails after having really strong nails my whole life. It's time to take some serious action!

Sue's Wishlist:

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – AU$8.99 – really well priced and the specifications tick all the boxes

2. Revlon Colourstay Whipped Creme Makeup – AU$24 – Katherine's sister, Rachael, and all of the women I've spoken to at Priceline say it's the best foundation they've tried.

3. Ardell Fashion Lashes – AU$3.89 – because they're fun and I'm told that they're the best for an amatuer to work with

4. Skin Doctors Eyetuck Anti Bag Technology - $59.95 – no point in enhancing your eyes with false eyelashes if they have huge bags slung underneath them.

5. And last but not least….and I know it doesn't really fit into a beauty blog…but I lust after these so bad and they are so beautiful…..Sambag ballet flats!!!!!

Enjoy your week, let's hope the weather is as Springtime amazing as it has been lately.

Lust have it! – August

The excitement starts to build when I feel like it's been about a month since the last Lust have it! box.  The feeling gets stronger when I start to see some movement on Facebook, and I begin to create scenarios to get me to the Post Office box when I'm supposed to be at work.

This month the build up was so worth it, as the box was the best ever (in my humble opinion) with the gorgeous goodies done up in a plain white box with a beautiful black satin ribbon tied in a bow.  Such a gift!!

This was just a prelude to the wonders within though.  This month we were  blessed to receive not five, but six, great products.  And because I am an annual subscriber (thank you Katherine for the wonderful birthday present) I also received a pair of pearl earrings!!

The six goodies this time were:

tanGo Tanning Glove – made to remove fake tan, but can also be used to remove make up.  Full size – RRP $29.95

Bed Head – Glaze Haze Smoothing Serum – fights humidity, smooths and reduces drying time – Sample size.  50ml – RRP $25.95

Marc Jacobs DOT fragrance – Sample size.  100ml – RRP $160.00

Pure Fiji Exotic Bath & Body Oil – Orange Blossom – Sample Size.  236ml – RRP $34.95

Shiseido Lipstick – gorgeous pale pink (same colour as my very first lipstick – Avon Pretty Pink – brings back memories of being 13 again) and very moisturising.  4.5g – RRP $43.00

Wet n Wild: Nail Polish in a pearlescent white.  Full size – RRP $14.95

Hello Darling – Rockcandy nails

So the other week I mentioned my dilemma in trying to decide on which Rockcandy manicure to try. I ended up going with Millions and Billions because it reminded me of Fairy Bread and the pink nail polish that accompanied it was such a vibrant pink, I couldn't really go wrong.

When it arrived, in a matching bright pink bag, I busted it open to have a crack at the Rockcandy mani. I was a little nervous at first, fancy nail art is certainly not my forte, so I went to the Hello Darling blog where I discovered a handy Rockcandy tutorial (that was accidental but too awesome to change).

I'm actually really impressed with the Hello Darling nail polish. You know how you can just tell a great quality polish? Well, Hello Darling definitely falls into that category, I cannot wait to try more.

And then I tried a more modest version, so I wouldn't look too crazy in my new corporate office.

I loved how it turned out and I imagine you could easily do every nail for a special occasion to really stand out.

After about about five days of doing my nails, the polish is still perfectly in tact. The little beads, however, are a little worse for wear. They have almost all fallen off and left little coloured divets in my nail polish, I think it will take a bit more practice before I get them to stick better. And, if you are anything like me, you will keep finding them all around the house. But they are so much fun, they are definitely worth trying!

With my new discovery of the awsomeness of Hello Darling nail polishes, it was brought to my attention today that the newest Hello Darling Spring ranges are about to be released. They are called Not Your Nana's Nightie and Crazy in Love and they're about as different from each other as they sound and just PERFECT for my favourite season.

Not Your Nana's Nightie is a collection of gorgeous pastels (swoon) and Crazy In Love is the complete opposite – a range of neon brights (gorg!). I don't know about you, but I will be mixing up between the two different styles for Spring because I love them both!

Rockcandy is available from Hello Darling for $24.95 and the new collections are currently available in the presale for $18.95 (or 20% off if you buy the whole collection!)

Have you tried a Rockcandy mani yet? How did yours go? What do you think of the new summer colours?

Disclaimer: I bought Rockcandy with my own money and my opinions are my own. I was in no way compensated for this post, I just had to share my excitement over my new love of Hello Darling!

Hello Darling Rockcandy dilemma

I don't know if you've heard, but everyone is talking about Rockcandy by Hello Darling. What a brilliant idea to add another dimension to the home mani by supplying a tub of beads to dip your recently lacqured fingernail into. I don't know about you, but I am just loving this (removal, however, is something that concerns me slightly).

You will imagine my dilemma when trying to decide what colour to choose. Take a look for yourselves at the variations on offer.

I finally decided to bite the bullet today and buy one of the kits to try out, and a new dilemma has presented itself. Half of the colours are currently sold out (the promise to be back soon though)!! What am I to do? Learn a valuable lesson from taking too long to decide which one to buy? Wait until they come back into stock? Or go with a colour that is still available? Oh, woe is me.

There are 10 Rockcandy shades to choose from and they are $24.95 each from Hello Darling with FREE SHIPPING (my favourite). What colour should I get? Have you tried them? Do you want to try them? Get in quick before they're all gone!

B Collection nail polish set by Bloom

Last month, I took place in a Christmas in July Beauty Swap organised by Samantha and received, among many wonderful things, the B Collection Nail Polish Set by Bloom from my swapping partner, Lauren.

These colours are gorgeous and screaming for the cold to end so that they can make an appearance on warm summer's days with cocktails and parties. I don't know what it is, that's just what the colours tell me! I love them and although wearing them in August is slightly premature, I am slowly remembering what balmy summer nights and going out without a jacket on feel like.

I've only tried one nail polish shade by Bloom (see here) and upon applying the B Collection, I'm reminded how much I love the formula and am shocked I haven't bought more!

The polishes go on so easily and smoothly in all three shades – St Tropez, Dubai, and Hollywood and even one coat gives excellent coverage.

I wasn't sure how to approach three shades on ten nails so I decided to go with completely random and added another coat and some spots and stripes, just to shake things up a bit!

The opacity of the colours is pretty impressive and I love the sherbert-y matte bright colours! I definitely need to remember how impressed I am with Bloom nail polishes and add a few more to my collection because they are pretty impressive AND Australian made. Five stars, in my opinion.

Bring on summer (well maybe just for a little while then bring back the cooler weather)! And if you're anything like the lovely Samantha and Lauren when it comes to summer tans, you should check out their Bronzed Ambition self tan project here and here.

Christmas in July Beauty Swap

Last month, the lovely Samantha Smith had a bright idea to do a Christmas in July Beauty Swap. I got paired up with Lauren from Sandcastles and Paper Crowns and we got started emailing and tweeting back and forth. I highly recommend checking out Lauren's blog, it's so much fun and she is really lovely (and a lover of pink and cake and sparkly things like me!).

Putting together a package of things that I thought Lauren would love was lots of fun! My favourite brands and products change pretty frequently but I got her some things that I'm really loving right now and Lauren sent me some of her favourite things. I wanted to share with you the amazing package that I got for Christmas in July this week.

Isn't it a great looking selection? I love the colours and products that Lauren chose to send me! Here's a little bit about them:

Bloom B Collection Nail Polish – This summery trio includes three extra bright shades called Dubai, St Tropez and Hollywood. I've mentioned my love of Bloom nail polishes before and am excited to try these out soon. I'lll report back!

Essence I <3 Extreme Volume Mascara – The brush on this looks good and thick so no doubt it will be a winner.

Ultra3 Lipstick in Harem Pink and Peaches – I haven't tried the Ultra3 lipsticks before but the matte brightness of the Harem Pink and the shimmery orange of Peaches are too much fun!

Bourjois Paris blush in Rose Frisson – I love this little blush with it's own rounded mini brush for on-the-go application. This colour goes perfectly with my complexion and although you can't really tell on my goosebumpy arm (it's exceptionally cold in my house today), it is a really pigmented blush.

NP Set Baked Powder Peach Set – This is not an item that I would ever think to purchase for myself, but upon swatching the colours, I can see it being a great use for contouring (seeing as Megan from Becca Cosmetics taught me how to do this recently). I can't wait to try it out.

Thanks, Lauren for a thoughtful and diverse package in the beauty swap! Who else got involved? If you did and you want to share what you got in your package, link up below.
