Lust have it! February 2013

There were plenty of Facebook teasers creating huge anticipation for this month (last month – February, that is).  The new packaging boxes that had been introduced in January were too small to take the full-sized products that companies vying for space in the pack were supplying.  So, every day like a child at Christmas, I was stalking the post man waiting for my treats.

And when it arrived I realised that some months it’s a great delight, and some months one is going to be disappointed.  And it’s never going to be the same for everyone, because we are all so different.  January was the month that sang for me, and February, not so much.

  1. Lancome Hypnose Star Show-Stopping Volume Mascara 6.5ml RRP $52 (Sample size in pack)

I used Hypnose for many years, and loved it.  This particular one differs in that it has a dual-sided brush to leave your lashes volumised and curled.  Hypnose mascara enhances your lashes with its liner effect to appear thick at the lashline whilst long and luscious through the tips.  I'm actually finding the unusual brush very easy to use, and Hypnose really is a great mascara!

  1. Summer Tan by Mancine – Self Action Tan – Dark 250ml RRP $29.95  (Full size)  Dark, I ask you?  Dark?

Unfortunately this was one of the full sized products that forced the plain packaging, and was a disappointment to me.  I will never try self tanning.  Too many things can go wrong, but I’m sure many recipients were thrilled to receive this.  The Lust have it! site has a great video tutorial though, and I wish I could be convinced that it is as easy to apply as they make it seem.

In the company’s defence though, Mancine is an Australian company that has developed a name for itself worldwide, believing in organics, natural products and the environment, and it does not test on animals.

  1. The Natural Source Camouflage Colour Nail Lacquer  12ml RRP $9.99

Nail enamel that is as ‘natural and pure as modern technology allows’.  Derived from sand and horsetail plant!!??  Cute bottle, as you can see.  But can you see the colour?  Bottle green – or as I would call it – school uniform green.  But Katherine loves green and is young enough to get away with this – so south to Sydney it will go.

  1. Kevin Murphy Born Again Masque  250ml RRP $49.95

This is a sample sachet containing a treatment to soften and moisturise hair and will be put to the test once the crazy rain in SEQ has stopped.  This contains agents derived from Olive Leaf and Shea Butter to make hair feel ‘Born Again’.  I’ll let you know……

  1. LonVitalite C10 Crystal Whitening & Moisturising Hand Mask  1 pair RRP $4.50

I’ll do a separate post on this product, because I am a bit excited about it.  Always a believer that the hands give away a lot about people, this product claims to even the pigment in age spots and blemishes.  So we’ll see.  A previous pack delivered a LonVitalite face mask, and it was a very pleasant experience, so I’m sure the hand mask will live up to the company’s reputation.

Now that I’ve shared the contents of the box with you, I must say I’m not as disappointed as I was when I first received it.  Maybe I can launch into Autumn with a deep, fake tan?  Dare me?

Lust Have It! January 2013

Well, it’s a new year and the Lust Have It! crew really knew how to launch the year with a new look.  Gone are the coloured satin purses from 2012, and my January pack came in a very pretty box, and it was a delight to open it to reveal the treasures inside.  I can also reuse it to keep all sorts of pretty things in.

New Lust have it! ackaging box

The beginning of the new year usually sees people making resolutions and setting goals for the year, and I must have done it unintentionally as 2 of the things in the pack for January were on my Wish List.  (Katherine is a very focused goal setter.  Me … I often just put stuff out there and the universe seems willing to send it to me!)

  1. Open box with 7 beauty productsLush Cosmetics Emotional Brilliance Makeup. RRP $24.95.  My product is a beautiful eye colour in Sophisticated (a rose/tan/golden colour) and applies beautifully.  But do yourself a favour – go to www.lush.com.au and play the Emotional Brilliance ‘Spin the Colour Wheel’ game.
  1. Nude by Nature BB 5-in-1 Miracle Cream 50ml RRP $19.95.  This is the first of the products I had been lusting over.  LHI! says it hydrates, corrects, perfects, protects and gives you skin natural radiance in one lightweight application.    It is perfect for the most humid of Queensland days!  It needs no foundation on top, and stays beautifully matt all day.
  1. Lust have it! Kabuki Brush $19.95.  Eco-friendly synthetic brush that can be used wet or dry to apply base, bronzer or blush.  It is beautiful, and the second of the products that was on my list to go and buy.  I haven’t used it wet, but it’s great for powder.
  1. Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner 200/150ml RRP $9.95 samples.  Haven’t used these yet, but the promise of pomegranate and mango butter infusion, specifically for colour-treated hair, means they won’t sit in their packaging for long.
  1. Avene Cleanance Skin Range RRP from $24.95.  Straight from France – trio of gel cleanser, cream exfoliant and anti-shine moisturiser for sensitive skin.  I think maybe this set should be sent to the sensitive skin member of TPL partnership to try – what do you think?

The LHI! team are also showing videos on how to use the products in the box.  If you’re like me and love to watch this ‘how to’ stuff, go to Youtube.com/Lusthaveit or www.Lusthaveit.com.au/videos

Lust Have It! December 2012

The Lust Have It! boxes keep arriving each month – and I do believe that they are getting better!

Photo of 7 products received in the Lust Have It! box

December's great box contained:

1.  Catwalk by Tigi Sessions Series Finishing Hairspray 250ml RRP $29.95.  This is a really lovely hairspray with a great perfume that is not too overpowering.

2.  Baji Face Mist 110ml RRP $18.  I've been using MAC Fix+ for most of the summer, but this is a cheaper alternative and seems to work just as well.  Can be used to set mineral makeup, as a toner between cleansing and moisturising, or as a cooling spritz in the middle of the day.

3.  Everyday Minerals (Selection) RRP $7 to $13.  In my pack I had a blush in a delightful pink shade, just great for a summer glow.

4.  Pelactiv Hydra Daily Defense 50ml RRP $69.  Containing liposomes, vitamins A and E, seaweed extract, jojoba and avocado oils.  This product claims to firm, hydrate, sooth and detoxify skin and I swear it is non-greasy.  Great as a base for makeup.

5.  Glasshouse Fragrances Hand Cream 140ml RRP $24.95. A sachet each of Marseille (gardenia, sandalwood and cardamom) and Kakadu (water lily and spring orange blossom) – DEVINE!

6.  Lust have it! Exfoliating Glove RRP $9.50.

7.  Sample size perfume – Daisy by Marc Jacobs.  One of my favourites and I carry the sample in my handbag.

This big box of treats – all for $15 per month.  Love it!

Lust Have It! October

Five lovely new products this month from Lust Have It:

1.  Caron Waxaway Ready to Use Sensitive Wax Strips (from $9.95 for 20pk).  Two were included in the pack.  These measure about 4cmx14cm (sorry – I'm guessing, I don't have a ruler) and can be cut to size for small, sensitive areas.  Also included is an After Care Wipe.

2.  Kosmea Skin Clinic Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil (10ml $12.95).  I love Rose Hip Oil and have not yet tried the Kosmea one. This is a 3ml sample, in its own little bottle with a rubberised dropper included.  It is so cute!  This is a great size for travelling.  (Also included was a $10 Kosmea voucher to be redeemed on online purchases).

3.  De Lorenzo Instant Rejuven8 Treatment (20g $24.95).  Full sized product in pack!  Great value!  This is to seal the hair's frazzled cuticles and contains anti-oxidents – ginko biloba, Vitamin E, blackberry and bilberry extracts.  This will be great for protection from the harsh, Queensland summer sun.

4.  Beauty Snapz (24pk $9.95). I have never come across these before, but there are 7 types in the range and I received 'Overnight Lip Revitalizer'.  These are like cotton buds, but they contain within them just enough product for one use.  These contain sweet almond oil, and are specificaly handy for keeping in your handbag, using on long flights, or staying away overnight.  You can get them at Priceline, and I think I'm going to have to get Katherine (with her relentlessly dry lips) to check them out with me so that she can give them the 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down' on a Mother/Daughter Monday post.

5.  Star & Rose White Bath Fizzer (145g $4.95).  Might just have to try this out in a relaxing bath, if I can just get husband to stop threatening to throw it into the pool for fun.

Also in the pack this time was a $15 Gift Card for Adorn Mineral Cosmetics, to be redeemed with online purchases.  As Adorn ship free on purchases over $45, this is great value and a real incentive to try its 100% natural, toxic free, mineral and organic products.

Once again Lust Have It! – GREAT VALUE thanks.

Babyfoot and adult fear

Right now as I writing this I am doing something very scary – you'll probably think it lame, but it is very scary for me.  I've done some Google research, and have not found anyone else who felt any fear about this product, but it has taken me months to overcome my fear to be where I am right now.

Firstly, where I am right now is confined to the couch, and secondly, you need to know something about me to perhaps understand.  I have a propensity to be squeamish.  I have been known to faint just because I have cut my finger.  I have passed out in front of medical programs on the TV.  I've been lightheaded and swooned when someone has told me a gory story about accidents they have had (my imagination creates graphic pictures).  Therefore, the thought of any beauty product that would make my skin peel is frightening to me.

In my Lust Have It! box a couple of months ago I received a product called Baby Foot – an exfoliating product to remove dry, dead skin from feet.  The product is made up of a pair of plastic booties, filled with a fruit acid gel, that you have to put your wet feet into, tape them up, cover with socks, and then sit for TWO hours……..TWO hours I tell you…..before washing the gel off.  And then, after two to five days the skin starts to peel off the soles of your feet, leaving them like that of a new born baby.

So, I had a number of things putting me off this product, but in the back of my mind there was a little voice crying out, bleating 'But your feet will be so soft and pretty, and it's Spring and you have beautiful sandals to wear'.

So, I made sure that there was stuff to watch on TV (The Good Wife) for 1 hour, and my laptop nearby for the other hour.  I restricted my liquid intake earlier, as the packaging and website state that you should not try to walk around in the booties, therefore running to the bathroom in ad breaks is not an option.  And believe you me, trying to walk in these things is a WH&S incident waiting to happen.

Apart from sitting in one place for two hours, my two other problems are (1) I never stay in water (bath, spa, swimming pool) for very long as I hate the soggy, wrinkly skin you get from extended immersion in water; and (2) the huge fear of what is going to happen in a few days when the skin starts to peel off.  However, for the sake of a new The Perfect Lipstick post, and spring-ready feet, I decided to feel the fear, and do it anyway.

I must also admit that I rarely walk around in bare feet (as I am a little clumsy and any injuries can result in big bumps on my head from hitting the floor when I faint) therefore my feet are usually in pretty good condition, so I'm counting on the peeling to be not as bad as the pictures on the website (I peeked quickly through squinty eyes).

So here I am, stuck on the couch, and if you want to know what the results are you'll just have to come back in a few days time.

(oh, and BTW, did I tell you that I have an aversion to feet.  So this has made this exercise and writing about it difficult.  It is anathama to me that anyone decides to study podiatry or perform pedicures on other people.)

Lust Have It! September

I can't believe we are so far into October, and I'm only just now letting you know what great products the precious Lust Have It! box contained last month.  But here goes, knowing that you will be green with envy!!!

Dermalogica Multi Viamin Power Recovery Masque (75ml $76) – helps to rescue stressed, aging skin.  Well, this product really has its work cut out for it.

Davroe Smooth Senses Straightening Balm (200ml $22.50) – for temporarily straightening and taming fly-aways.  This is going on tomorrow if it is still raining like it did today.  I look like my mum did my hair in curlers today – a touch of red lippy and you'd think I was straight out of the '40s.

Avene Cold Cream (400ml $35.95) – bit of a cheat here, I think we've had this one before.

Mirenesse 'Ace of Base' (4.5g $35) – 3-in-1 anti-aging concealer, eye shadow base and line minimiser.  As a concealer it is just too light.  I tried it around my eyes and look like the woman on the insurance ad currently running on TV, where she's on holiday and got sunburnt with her big sunnies on.  But I am going to give it a try as an eye shadow base – got to give it to Mirenesse – their packaging is always great.

Say it With Scent – Frangipani (200ml $26.80) – lotion enriched with Shea Butter and vitamin E.  Gave this one to mother – couldn't take the frangipani scent – urggh…….

This month there were also 3 vouchers:

Free Dermalogica facial treatment worth $90 – when you spend $50 or more on Dermalogica product in the same transaction.

Free Davroe sytling product when you go to their website.

Free Mirenesse product from their website.

Just letting you know – the Lust Have It! box is great value (a great gift you can give someone, that will keep on giving every month for a year) and such a treat when it arrives in the post.  (I always open mine in the car outside of the Post Office – then deposit the packaging in the Post Office rubbish bin!)

Lust have it! – August

The excitement starts to build when I feel like it's been about a month since the last Lust have it! box.  The feeling gets stronger when I start to see some movement on Facebook, and I begin to create scenarios to get me to the Post Office box when I'm supposed to be at work.

This month the build up was so worth it, as the box was the best ever (in my humble opinion) with the gorgeous goodies done up in a plain white box with a beautiful black satin ribbon tied in a bow.  Such a gift!!

This was just a prelude to the wonders within though.  This month we were  blessed to receive not five, but six, great products.  And because I am an annual subscriber (thank you Katherine for the wonderful birthday present) I also received a pair of pearl earrings!!

The six goodies this time were:

tanGo Tanning Glove – made to remove fake tan, but can also be used to remove make up.  Full size – RRP $29.95

Bed Head – Glaze Haze Smoothing Serum – fights humidity, smooths and reduces drying time – Sample size.  50ml – RRP $25.95

Marc Jacobs DOT fragrance – Sample size.  100ml – RRP $160.00

Pure Fiji Exotic Bath & Body Oil – Orange Blossom – Sample Size.  236ml – RRP $34.95

Shiseido Lipstick – gorgeous pale pink (same colour as my very first lipstick – Avon Pretty Pink – brings back memories of being 13 again) and very moisturising.  4.5g – RRP $43.00

Wet n Wild: Nail Polish in a pearlescent white.  Full size – RRP $14.95

Lust Have It Box – July

Last week I was going to Sydney for 4 days, and just popped to the post office box before going to the airport.  Oh excitement – I picked up my Lust have it! box for July.  So as I was going to see Katherine that night I pulled it out of the cardboard packaging (and discarded that in the public bin) and popped the pack, unopened, into my suitcase so we could explore it together.

This month's case was orange – my favourite.  And the contents were great, with lots of variety!

Baby Foot – foot mask to remove dead skin cells.  Full size RRP $29.95
*  2 x Matrix Mix in Shine – hair serum for a smooth, polished finish.  89ml  RRP $20.95
Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine – gives really full, plump lips all day.  4.5g RRP $39.95
*  Avene Eluage Firming Gel – helps reduce the appearance of deep furrows and wrinkles.  15ml $30.00
Avene Rich Compensating Cream – Moisturiser for very dry and sensitive skin.  50ml $57.95
*  Avene Cold Cream – Nourishing and softening, suitable for all skin types.  400ml $35.95

For only $15 a month, these packs are such value and give a great opportunity to test some new products that you may never buy.  Can't wait to try the foot mask – you have to leave it on for 2 hours!!

Lon Vitalite 24k Active Gold Mask on a Quiet Saturday

I don't get a lot of free time to indulge myself, and I'm also a bit inhibited when it comes to things like facials, massages, etc, but in my Lust Have It! box last month I got this Lon Vitalite 24K Active Gold Mask.

It contains 'pure whitening essence milk and ultra fine gold foil to even out pigment and repair sun damage and promote micro circulation to rejuvenate mind, body, soul and skin'.   On Saturday morning I took the time to apply it (also feeling pressured because they are now asking for my feedback).  So…amused 'him indoors' no end with said mask (and I know you'll understand from the below photo) – but you'll be pleased to know that he was recovered enough by Saturday night to take me out to dinner (so he should – I looked 10 years younger!).

The process:-  I had a shower and cleansed my face, then applied the mask very carefully.  Now – you need to know that I was a little nervous because the instructions said that if you get any of the moisturiser in your eyes to rinse immediately.  And the fabric mask was doused in the stuff and I was worried as to where it would all end up. (Also realised that my eyes must be wide-set as you can see that the holes didn't fit my face shape exactly – explains my love of Jackie Kennedy-Onassis sunglasses anyway!)

So, back to the process:- working like a pro to get it all onto my face without any mishaps, and …..OMG it's blooody cold!!!!!  Hot damn – I'm jumping all around the bathroom on a cold July morning, and this thing is wet, and freezing, and ………..oh….oh wow – it's tingling, (ooh – calming down quickly) and it's amazing, and I feel great.  So…. I go and stretch out Greta Garbo-like on the couch for 15 minutes while this baby does it's stuff.  And I'm loving it.  It's now warmed up to my body temperature, and it's tingling slightly.  And I can feel it working, soothing, renewing.  I ended up not actually wanting to wash it off as it was such a nice feeling, but, I'm a stickler for rules, so after 15 minutes I was back in the bathroom.

When I first peeled the fabric off, I could see no wrinkles on my face at all.  Once I had rinsed and moisturised, I really felt like the colour and texture of my face was looking better.

Now – I know you're saying you wanted to see before and after photos.  But this face does not go public without make up, therefore all I'm giving you is this after shot with make up applied (and sporting my new Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle that came in the post this week thanks to the mobile bump promotion!!).  And anyway – surely the crazy mask photo is enough for you…

I would certainly purchase some of these to use again, but think that I might prefer it when the weather warms up a bit - RRP is $59 for 5.

Lust Have It Box – June

I've been really slack because, although my Lust Have It! box came 2 weeks ago, it's taken me until now to let you know about the delights that the company had in store (or rather in the mail) for us in June.  Five products (there was actually six items), but this month I just felt there was not enough variety.  I also have to let you know up front that I've only tried half of them, so the others will give me something to write about next week …. maybe.

1 – First up, Bloom Glitter Eyeliner  – love eyeliner – but glitter near your eyes? – not too sure about that one - haven't tried it yet as I feel it needs some dramatic black tie do to be worn at.  Instructions say to wear this gel product alone or over a black eye pencil.  I saw someone on Facebook who used it on the base part of her nails and put a clear gloss over it.  Clever idea!!  I'll let you know if the glitter is a problem near eyes.  Full retail is $14.95

2 – Batiste – Blush Dry Shampoo – this great product got my hair all the way through last week.  We had an unusual Brisbane winter wet week and it was not worth me bothering to wash my hair and then try and straighten it against the damp.  So I left it day after day, and sprayed with the Batiste.  Worked well!!  $9.95 for 150ml.

3 & 4 – Two perfume samples. One is Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum ($80 for 30ml).  It's a new fragrance and I absolutely love it.  It sits on my computer at work and I'm wearing it nearly every day. (If you're in a department store – go and have a quicky try!!)   The other is Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh ($115 for 75ml).  I had the original Daisy and I loved it and this variation is great too.

5 & 6 – And last but not least 2 x LonVitalite 24K Active Gold masks – one for face and one for eyes  The face mask contains 'pure whitening essence milk and ultra fine gold foil to even out pigment and repair sun damage and promote micro circulation to rejuvenate mind, body, soul and skin'.  The eye mask claims 'Boosts circulation around the eyes, removing dark circles, reducing swelling and tiredness'.  It contains Vit B3, mulberry extract and and grape leaf essence.  I have not used them yet – but feedback seems to be good on and I really could do with the benefits of the eye mask.  I just haven't had a moment to myself to revell in such luxury. RRP is $59 for 5 for the face mask and $45 for 5 for the eye mask.

I love small products in the mail….it makes life so much fun.
